Singapore Zoo Visit (June 13)

Date: June 12, 2011

I think Singapore Zoo is one nice place you got to bring your toddler kids to... There is a new multi-storey car park for you to park your car, it is not far away from the entrance... But you will go home later, it will be very nice and cool, unlike last time, you park your car under the hot sun.

IMG_7202.JPG

I usually brought my kids there 4-5 times a year... so, with that frequent, you will need this... Look at our new Zoo Pass... and the Bird Park Pass too...  You get discounts buying food and toys and rides, etc.  and free car park too...

IMG_7203.JPG

I think this is the 3rd or 4th time Kay Kay visited the Zoo.  And he still very curious about everything...

IMG_7208.JPG

That is Jay Jay's big foot....  The Kangoroo shoe... Can you see Kay Kay also wanted to compare his leg too?

IMG_7209.JPG

PaPa... Look at me, I am driving the Jeep...

IMG_7211.JPG

Look, another big foot, the Elephant's foot... I am so small...

IMG_7218.JPG

A new show at the Zoo, the Sea Lions show....

IMG_7219.JPG

Oh, this is the first time we sit in the Carousal...

IMG_7222.jpg

As usual, Kay Kay loves it too...

IMG_7223.jpg

And as usual, we will spent a lot of time at the water park there... This is Kay Kay first taste of the tsunami from above ....

Ok, he does not know anything about me sitting under that huge Elephant water bucket and after it is filled with water, the Ding Ding Ding bell sound will sound of, and water comes down... hahaha It was fun...

Screen shot 2011-06-30 at AM 05.42.20.png

And of course, we did the water slides too...

Screen shot 2011-06-30 at AM 05.47.07.pngScreen shot 2011-06-30 at AM 05.47.28.png

And I eventually throw Kay Kay down the slides all by himself...

Screen shot 2011-06-30 at AM 05.47.59.png

And where is Jay Jay? He is enjoying himself running around playing with water...

Screen shot 2011-06-30 at AM 05.49.34.png

After a very fun morning... Kay Kay finally asleep... too tired...

Short Course on Wine @ SP

Date:  June 28, 2011

You know when I started to drink wine, it was back in year 2000, and back then, I started with cheap wine like Australian... So, when I was staying in Sydney, I would go and buy a A$5-A$6 wine and say "Good Wine!"

...

Later when I grew older, I got a chance to drink nice French, and Italian, the taste of the wine totally blow me off... The wine was so smooth, and not so siap-siap, and yet, you get the kick out of the wine.... But I still say "Good Wine!"

...

The other day, I was at Woods, behind the The Wine Company, our friend ordered a few bottles of french wine... He is a French wine drinker...

IMG_7627.jpgIMG_7629.jpgIMG_7630.jpg

We ordered 4 bottles of french wne... Red and White... after drinking it, It was fantastic, and I said "Good Wine!"

So, as you know, I am very bad in describing wine, so, I decided to go and take a course ... The course has postponed to start from July 11.  So, Terrence, Shao Yi and Nicole (not Seah) and I will be taking the course together.  So, hopefully after this course, I should be able to comment more about a wine, instead of saying "Good Wine!"...

Oh ya... the course usually have 15+ people and it is a 10 week course.  Of course, there is an exam at the end, and you need to pass it to get the Certificate.  And every time, they will have some food, as well as open I think 6 bottles of wine for the student to taste.  So, treat it like going for a easy dinner with good wine.  Also, usually, your classmates will be people from the wine industries, such as wine distributor, etc.  So, hopefully, after this course, we also get to know nice place to eat and drink, cheap place to get wine, etc etc.

Blk 253, Jurong St 24 STEAM FISH

Date:  June 28, 2011

Hungry... Where to eat?

Drive to Blk 253, Jurong St. 24, Inside this First Cooked Food Point Coffee Shop....

NewImage.jpg

There is this Zai Shun Curry Fishhead stall...

NewImage.jpg

Go there, you should picked your own fresh fish... and all of them are very big...

NewImage.jpg

They open daily except Wednesday... and they only open until 3PM.

This is one of our favorites.  Cheap and extremely good.  That day we ordered these...

IMG_7620.jpg

The anchor dish, Hong Kong steam Sou Mei Fish... It was the last Sou Mei Fish that day... And it is huge... compare to the soup bowl beside and the veggie plate, you know how big is this fish... four of us can hardly finish it...

NewImage.jpg

Just in case you don't know how a real Sou Mei fish looks like...  This dish, if you eat some where else, or in seafood restaurant, it is at least S$100-$200.  But here at the Zai Shun, it costs only $60.  And it is the most expensive fish we eat here at Zai Shun.

IMG_7617.jpg

OK.  The same boss also roast duck, and Char Siew, Siew Bak.  For this, the Char Siew was very very tasty, similar to the KL Char Siew.  The duck and Siew Bak just OK.  It's just that every one who came to this coffee shop will only order the steam fish or curry fishhead... so, this Char Siew sometimes become secondhand citizen there... hahaha

IMG_7618.jpg

As usual, we love the soup!Big bowl and tasty.

IMG_7619.jpg

Also the 金针菇 is very nice too.

So, 4 of us drove from city area came to this place and eat.  Satisfaction!  Oh, usually, we come around 12 or before 12 to get a car park space.  Otherwise, it is quite hard to get car park as there are food court around here too especially the lunch hour.

Polliwogs & Justin's Birthday

Date: June 26, 2011

Jay Jay's friend, Justin has invited Jay Jay to go to his birthday party @ Polliwogs.  This is the second time Jay Jay been there.  And he already keep bugging me to hold his birthday party at Polliwogs.  And I am still thinking about it.. as this is the second birthday party @ Pollowogs for this year.  (Last time, Anerton's birthday party is also held here!)

Screen shot 2011-06-27 at PM 09.59.12.png

But you got to admit it, it is a great place to hold party.  You got nice sea views, you got big area, and you got nice slides, not to dangerous, and you have nice food here too.  The New Zealand ice cream is also nice.

IMG_7415.JPGIMG_7416.JPG

I think Kay Kay also loves this place too, given the fact that he has slide down this slide for 10+ time.

IMG_7421.JPGIMG_7426.jpg

What is Jay Jay looking at?  Argh... the balls that float in the air... there is a strong air current blowing at the middle and you can actually place the ball on top of it, and the ball simple hangs and float around there... so, it becomes a perfect target for the air gun to shoot at...

IMG_7443.JPG

Ah... yes, its Justin's birthday today...

IMG_7446.JPG

Let's the game begin...

IMG_7499.JPG

Some kids just love dinosaurs...  Here is Justin's cake...

IMG_7506.JPG

Ok, we sit down already... where is the food?

IMG_7508.JPG

Jessica, Clare and Jay Jay... hmm, Jay Jay keeps putting a big smile in his face...

IMG_7523.JPG

Riandi's sister Gwensays... I want cake...

IMG_7533.jpg

Oh ya... Gwen is actually Kay Kay's classmate, and her brother, Riandi is Jay Jay's classmate... and guess what, the parents went to the same pre-natal course with us... and both mommy delivers at Mount Elizabeth... Quite a coincident...

IMG_7540.jpg

That concludes the fun time we had at Justin's Birthday @ Polliwogs.  And I am still thinking whether to grant Jay Jay's request to have his party at Polliwogs... hmmmm... hard decisions to make... let's see how la...

My Balcony - My Garden

Date:  June 27, 2011

If your home has a open balcony or a garden, you can actually have a lots of plants there.  Here is what I have...

IMG_7614.JPG

This is my small little garden / balcony.  (Ignore the Durian lady).  It looks small, but I think it holds up to about 100+ plants/pots there...

IMG_7612.JPG

This is something we get from Far East Flora, and it can have about 30 pots of plants there.  We usually plant our veggie there.  Here you can see the Kailan and the small Bok Choy.

IMG_7600.JPG

It is another 3 weeks then, we can cook these Kailan and small Bok Choy.

IMG_7587.JPG

The mints are growing well there... And sometimes, putting this into your sour plum drink will feel refreshing...

IMG_7588.JPG

This is another spice called Thyme... I am not sure what is use for, but I think my wife put some of these in the salad...

IMG_7586.JPG

The parsley.... where I blogged before to boil a pot of water, and put some of these parsley leaves in there and cook it for 10 minutes, then, you keep it in the fridge.  And the parsley drink helps to lower down your blood pressure...

IMG_7589.JPG

When you cook roasted turkey or chicken, placing some of the rosemary will bring up the taste...

IMG_7590.JPG

These are mints two, but its called Orange Mints and the other pot is called Chocolate Mints.  I never used this before, but I know it is for western food...

IMG_7591.JPG

The Ulu Rajah, my wife some times friend this together with the eggs to become some veggie ommelet...

IMG_7592.JPG

Those who loves chili padi will get it here... very fat healthy chili padi...

IMG_7609.JPG

Remember the 18 pots of orchid my friend gave me during Chinese new years, most of them are still here... some still with the flowers...

IMG_7608.JPG

Argh.... how can my place without the Fortune Plant... and it actually grow flowers few months back... how come I never hit 4D leh?

IMG_7602.JPG

Some other plants....

IMG_7613.JPG

And not to forget my Dragon, Tiger water falls protecting the prosperous corner...  North West Corner just beside the balcony...

IMG_7599.JPG

It is a nice feeling to have a small garden of your own within your home... especially when you live in an apartment ... So when you look for your next home, don't forget to find one that has a balcony.  Every morning the birds will be singing here... and playing around in the garden.

Also, it is also good to grow your own spice or veggies.  Because you will be sure that it does not come with any extra chemical in it... it will be 100% organic.
